The Nevada Equine Council exists to represent, strengthen, and unify the equine industry in Nevada through leadership, education, service, and communication.
The vision of the Nevada Equine Council (NVEC) is to serve as the umbrella organization of the Nevada equestrian community and be recognized as a leader in providing broad representation to all facets of the equine industry in Nevada before the local, state, and federal governments. The NVEC collaborates with other areas of the agricultural community to help facilitate communications between members of the equine industry and state and federal agencies.
The Nevada Equine Council is the official affiliate of the American Horse Council, located in Washington, DC, a national organization representing all segments of the horse industry.
NVEC is a member-based, non-profit organization.
A Nevada resident since 1986, Kathy has had a lifelong passion for horses. She enjoys refinement practice, biomechanics, classical horsemanship, and equine behavior study. Since 2016 she has owned and operated Team Yriarte Horsemanship, LLC alongside her husband, Daniel. Facing local regulations that are not written with equestrian businesses or horse owners in mind for her business, and with the support and resources of the American Horse Council, Kathy set out to re-establish a state horse council in Nevada to focus on supporting the equine industry.
